Frequently Asked Questions
1 - How Do I Get to Ouarzazate or Marrakech?
If your tour starts in Ouarzazate, there are daily flights from Casablanca to Ouarzazate via Royal Air Maroc. Some clients prefer to fly into Marrakech and then take ground transportation to Ouarzazate. Regional taxis and buses frequently depart from Marrakech to Ouarzazate throughout the day. The scenic 4-hour journey takes you over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass through the High Atlas mountains. Expedition Enduro can assist in arranging this local transportation. A bus ticket costs around 65 dirhams (6 euros), while hiring a regional taxi for the entire car (4 seats) costs about 800 dirhams (70 euros). An air-conditioned mini-bus accommodating up to 12 passengers is available for 1200 dirhams.
If your tour begins in Marrakech, there are numerous daily flights from most major European cities. Consult your travel agent for the best fares and itineraries to fit your budget and schedule. You might consider arriving in Marrakech a day or two early to explore the city before your tour begins.
2 - My Flight Arrives in Ouarzazate at 11:35 pm. Should I Arrive a Day Earlier?
Given that the daily Royal Air Maroc flight lands in Ouarzazate late at night, many clients prefer to arrive a day early. This allows time to rest on Sunday morning or explore the town. You might also take this opportunity to visit the film studios where numerous movies have been shot.
3 - Does Expedition Enduro Include Insurance?
All of our bikes are covered by third-party insurance, which means that in case of an accident, our insurance covers any damages or injuries to others or their property. However, it does not cover your personal injuries or damage to our bikes. Therefore, we require each client to purchase additional personal medical and repatriation insurance. Ensure your insurance covers motorcycling holidays, as some policies exclude activities deemed too risky. We recommend consulting your local insurance agency before your trip to Morocco; most agencies offer affordable one-week insurance packages.
4 - What Riding Equipment Do You Provide?
We provide a complete range of motocross and enduro riding gear, including Fox helmets, Scott goggles, body armor, Fox elbow and knee pads, Fox and Shift jerseys, gloves, riding trousers, and Fox boots. If you wear extra small or extra large sizes, you may need to bring your own gear. Some clients prefer to bring their own helmets, boots, and gloves for added comfort. Additionally, we suggest bringing a backpack with a Camelbak hydration system.
5 - Can You Accommodate Riders of All Levels?
Yes, we cater to riders of all experience levels, from those with little off-road experience to seasoned enduro racers. We've even hosted clients preparing for the Paris-Dakar rally. We typically group riders with similar experience levels, but if there’s a significant difference in skill within a group, we can provide GPS units to slower riders so they can follow the route at their own pace.
6 - What Kind of Accommodations Will I Have During the Tour?
You’ll generally stay in 3-star hotels, most of which offer amenities like swimming pools, bars, and televisions. To access the most challenging and scenic routes, we may stay in more rustic auberges or guesthouses. However, you’ll always have a hot shower, a hearty meal, and a comfortable bed at the end of the day. Bivouacs can be arranged upon request. The tour price is based on double occupancy, meaning you’ll share a room with another client. If you prefer a private room, this can be arranged for an additional fee. Depending on the group size, a single supplement may be shared during the tour.
7 - What Kind of Bikes Do You Offer?
Our fleet includes the following bikes:
8 x KTM 450 EXC
Each bike is equipped with Renthal bars, sump guards, and Motoz tires. All bikes are meticulously maintained by our mechanic.
8 - What Itinerary Will My Tour Follow?
Our main tour follows the detailed itinerary available on the Itineraries page of our website. This route offers the most diverse scenery and terrain, including the winding trails of the High Atlas mountains, spectacular gorges, expansive sand dunes (the highest in Morocco), and open desert. However, due to extreme heat in the desert from May to September, tours during these months follow our Coastal itinerary, starting in Marrakech and traveling along the Atlantic coast and into the High Atlas mountains.
9 - Can I Request a Custom Itinerary?
If you’re traveling with a group of at least five and would like a different itinerary from our standard one, please contact us to discuss the feasibility of your request. We may be able to accommodate your desired itinerary, depending on factors like distance, hotel availability, and logistics. Please note that a custom itinerary may incur additional costs due to exploration and setup expenses.
That said, we believe our standard one-week tour offers the best experience. We've spent considerable time exploring southern Morocco and crafting itineraries that ensure a full day of challenging rides, stunning scenery, and comfortable accommodations.
10 - Why Should I Take a Motorcycle Holiday in Morocco?
Morocco offers a perfect blend of beautiful scenery, challenging trails, and proximity to Europe. From the sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast to the snow-capped Atlas mountains and the vast desert dunes, Morocco has it all. The trails are as diverse as the landscape, offering challenges for both novices and experienced riders. The endless trails allow for hours of uninterrupted riding without the need to stop for gates or paved roads. Moreover, Morocco is just a short flight from most major European cities, making travel affordable and allowing you to maximize your holiday time.
